General: This headset has a very unusual form factor with no ‘boom’ microphone sticking out. This makes it is less sensitive to background noise than other headsets we’ve tried.

Sound quality: At first, we found the sound of this headset a little muted and the higher pitched tones missing. After using it for a while though and optimising the fit of the earpiece, this was no longer an issue.

Physical fit: Solid left/right reversible earpiece is easy to adjust and quite comfortable to wear after initial adjustment. The battery fits neatly behind the ear and holds the headset in place. The lack of a boom sticking out makes this a very discreet headset to wear. The control buttons can be somewhat small or users with large fingers.

Range: Maximum unobstructed range we achieved with our Class 1 reference dongle was spot on the stated 10m range. It was however somewhat prone to ‘cracking noise’ when at the outer reaches of the range

Accessories: HBH-435 comes only with a mains power charger but no desk stand, no USB charging capability and no carry case. We consider this disappointing, even at this price point.

Summary: If you are after a headset with solid construction, noise cancellation, discrete look and good battery life, the HBH-435 is a good all-round performer. It may be primarily focussed on people working outside but apart from the disappointing accessory-pack, we quite liked this headset for blubell use and therefore award it a respectable
